Description
It is a law requirement in Australia that containment or spill containment bunds be manufactured with materials that are best suited for a specific class of hazardous chemicals, substances, or dangerous goods.
WSSA Polyethylene Spill Containment Bunds are 100% manufactured from rotationally-moulded polyethylene and load tested by NATA accredited engineers in Victoria, Australia.
Our Powder-Coated Steel IBC Containment Bunds, on the other hand, are manufactured from heavy-duty powder-coated galvanised steel. These are designed for use with Class 3 Flammable Liquids or other compatible chemicals.
Chemical leaks and spills are serious health hazards when they come into contact with unprotected skin, splashed into your eyes, inhaled, or accidentally ingested. Chemical leaks and spills can also cause potentially serious damage to the immediate environment.
Failure to comply with government safety regulations can cause your company exposure to risks such as, damage to property, hazard to personnel, and the environment. Additionally, it may also mean hefty fines and liabilities for your company, business, or organisation.
The accidental release of toxic, hazardous chemicals and substances do have huge impacts on the environment and any living organisms. Exposure to dangerous chemicals can ultimately impact the ecosystem and may also affect the food chain.
Businesses that also handle combustible and flammable liquids, in the event of spills and leaks, may also come into contact with ignition surfaces and cause fires. Another fire scenarios can be caused when spills and leaks come into contact with hot surfaces and open flames, machineries, welding equipment, soldering irons, or electrical motors.
Features
IBC Spill Containment Bunds are safe and secure and can be manufactured using polyethylene and heavy-duty powder-coats steel for its construction. All our IBC Spill Containment Bunds are manufactured in Australia and built for Australian conditions.
Polyethylene IBC Containment Bunds
Features of our range of Polyethylene IBC Containment Bunds and Spill Pallets are manufactured using rotationally-moulded polyethylene, and also features two and four polypropylene grates depending on bund capacity.
Our Polyethylene Containment Bunds have 40 and/or 50 mm FBSP plug at each end in the sump for easy decanting of any spilt liquid. The bund’s unique design maximises your floor space and will allow the nesting of multiple for storage and/or transport.
Their large deck allows the safe positioning and convenient so that the IBC’s outlet tap is within the sump boundaries. Sump capacity is from 1,150 up to 1,470 litres, depending on bund capacity.
Polyethylene bunds and Polypropylene grates are chemical resistant and can endure harsh Australian environments. They also feature removable grated floors that allow access to their bund sump for easy cleaning.
WSSA’s IBC Bunds are forklift-friendly with moulded forklift pockets with dual access allowing for convenient positioning. Our polyethylene bunds are also tested in Australia to handle from 2,000 up to 3,600 kg universally distributed load (UDL).
They also feature encapsulated data plates that provide vital information such as the sump capacity, its maximum UDL, the materials it is composed of, and its net weight.
We can also provide optional bund discharge filters, allowing oils and fuel capture in the event there is a need to drain rainwater from the bund. The filters are packed with super absorbent hydrophobic (water-resistant) polypropylene that can effectively absorb up to 30 litres of spilled liquid. Each filter is fitted with an internal flow distributor and quick release camlock adaptor. Replacement filter bags can be ordered individually.
Powder Coated Steel IBC Containment Bunds
Our single and double IBC heavy duty powder-coated galvanised steel are suitable for use with Class 3 Flammable Liquids or other compatible chemicals that may spill, which it can capture to contain the leaks and drips.
WSSA powder-coated blue galvanised steel IBC spill pallets features a 40 mm drain plug in the sump that makes it easy to decant any spilt liquid that collects on the sump. Our range features a large deck which allows for convenient and safe positioning of the IBC, which makes access to the outlet tap still falls within the sump boundaries.
Our steel IBC spill containment bund can be easily accessed by forklifts from underneath, making it easy to organise your IBC storage, and segregate liquids for easy identification. Its construction also makes handling bulk containers safer and much easier.
The sump capacities of our range of our steel bunds can handle from 1,106 up to 1,165 litres (depending on sump size) of collected drips, leaks, and spills.
Our single IBC Coated Steel Containment Bund can handle a maximum UDL of 2,000 kg, while our double IBC Coated Steel Containment Bund can handle a maximum UDL of 3,600 kg.
Similar to our Polyethylene Containment bunds, optional bund discharge filters are also available, allowing oil or fuel to be captured when draining rainwater from the bund. The filter is packed with super absorbent hydrophobic (water-resistant) polypropylene for 30 litres of absorbency. The filter is fitted with an internal flow distributor and quick release camlock adaptor.
Polyethylene and Galvanised Steel IBC Spill containment pallets have multiple benefits, such as:
- Protecting your personnel safe from accidental slips.
- Reducing clean-up costs by providing easily retrievable spills.
- Helping in the organisation of your IBC storage.
- Segregating liquids for easy identification.
- Making handling bulk containers safer and easier.
Both Polyethylene and Galvanised Steel IBC Spill containment bunds also comes with optional bund covers to prevent rainwater from collecting on the bund sump.
Note that portable bunding units are designed for secondary and temporary storage. Be sure to check with your local council or regulatory body if you are unsure of your storage compliance obligations.
