The Need For Hazardous Chemical Storage by Wholesale Safety Storage Australia

The Need For Hazardous Chemical Storage

Hazardous chemical storage is a key part of working in many industrial settings where heavy materials and solutions are used to conduct business. When working with these dangerous materials, they must be carefully used, maintained and stored to ensure they cannot cause a dangerous situation for those working nearby. For example, a leak or accident could cause catastrophe, from flammable materials to corrosive chemicals without the right containment. However, when stored correctly, you can ensure that any drips are contained and that your space is safe. Read on to find out more about these safety options.

Identify Substances

The first step in storing these materials safely is to identify each substance you have on-site and to ensure you understand their requirements when stored correctly. Your industry guidelines will specify the requirements for the products and any incompatible substances or environmental conditions that might cause an adverse reaction. When dealing with these elements, you need to understand what types of reactions are most likely, and how to protect against them.

Assess The Risks

Once you have identified the materials you are dealing with and understand why they are dangerous, you are ready to look more closely at the risks associated with their use. It is best to take inventory of all the materials in use and fully assess what protection is needed in what areas. As there may be a range of materials present, you may need a selection of containment options to tend to every possible emergency.

Store Materials Correctly

Once you know all about the substances and the specific risks of keeping them around the working space, you can correctly install the right containment solutions that meet your needs. Armed with this information, you will be able to take proactive measures to ensure that the hazardous substances are stored in a safe and compliant manner. When deciding on the best containment method, you should begin with the most likely or present hazard. This will quickly tell you whether the chemical should be stored indoors or outdoors, whether it needs to be separated from other substances, and how much ventilation it needs.

Properly storing hazardous chemicals can help keep your working space safe and secure from accidents or mishaps. You can create a streamlined and effective way of containing these substances with the right products. Contact us today to find out more.

Tailgate Delivery Terms and Conditions

Any additional handling or manoeuvring to get the items in to position that requires specialised equipment, such as a tailgated truck or a truck mounted forklift, is not covered by any free freight offers.

For those who are new to freight, a tailgate truck (also known as a tail-lift truck or hydraulic truck) has a rear platform which can be lowered to the ground for convenience when unloading heavy goods.  This is a requirement for unloading freight over 30kg when a forklift is not available on site to unload the delivery vehicle.  Carriers class this as a specialised delivery service, and charge a premium for tailgate deliveries.

Tailgate delivery is to the front door, carport, or closest practical delivery point as deemed by the driver. There must be reasonable vehicle access with height clearance.

Tailgate shipping adds an extra $135 + gst to shipping fees during checkout to cover costs.

NOTE: Selecting the WRONG answer in regards to tailgate shipping means the carrier may be unable to unload your items and may need to re-deliver it.  The Customer will be liable for any further charges for re-delivery should this occur.  Should you have questions or if you are unsure please contact us first.
